Resident: use safety alerts

Safety alerts cover two things, and you may use one, both, or neither. Everything here is opt-in — you choose to join, and you can leave at any time without giving a reason.

Wellness check-ins (for residents living alone)

A check-in is a single tap that tells the system you are fine today. If you miss the window, the system reminds you first, then notifies your family contact, then asks a committee member or guard to knock on your door.

It exists so that nobody has to wonder, and so that if something does happen, it is noticed the same day rather than three days later.

Recording a check-in

1. Open /me/safety.
2. Tap I'm OK for today.

That is all. Do it whenever suits you within the day — there is no fixed time.

If you miss one

You get a reminder first. Only a full missed window escalates, so a late check-in is not a problem.

If you are fine and the escalation has already started, check in and let your family contact know — they will have been notified.

Before you travel

Pause your check-ins before you go away. Otherwise every holiday triggers a false alarm, and your family contact gets an alert for nothing.

Resume when you are back. If you cannot find the option, ask your committee admin to pause it for you.

Setting your family contact

Register one person who should be told if you miss a check-in — usually an adult child or a sibling. Keep the number current, and re-confirm it once a year.

Child exit alerts (for parents)

A child on the list is logged by the guard when they leave the gate and when they return, and you get a notification either way.

The point is not to restrict the child. It is to close the gap where you believe your eight-year-old is in the building and they left forty minutes ago.

Enrolling a child

Ask your committee admin to create a child profile against your flat. You will need to provide:

• The child's name, and a photo if your guards need it to recognise them
• Which guardians should receive the notifications — usually both parents

What you will receive

A notification when the child is logged leaving and again when they are logged returning.

The honest limitation

This works only when the guard logs the movement at the moment it happens. If your society has more than one gate, all of them must be logging — a child who leaves by the main gate and returns by the service gate will show an exit with no return.

Do not stop checking on your child because you assume the system will tell you. Treat it as a backstop, not a substitute.

Leaving the list

Ask your committee admin to deactivate the profile. It takes effect immediately and you do not need to explain why.

Privacy

• Alerts go only to the contacts you registered — never to a committee-wide or society-wide group
• Movement logs are kept for a short window and then purged
• Children's names are not published against photographs anywhere in the society
• Your data stays within your society; Plinth does not sell resident data

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to join wellness check-ins? No. It is entirely opt-in, and you can leave at any time without giving a reason.

What happens if I forget to check in but I am perfectly fine? You get a reminder first. Only a full missed window escalates to your family contact, and the window is set generously for this reason.

Can I pause check-ins while I am away? Yes, and you should — otherwise travelling triggers a false alarm. Pause before you go and resume when you return.

Does the child alert track my child's location? No. It records gate events logged by a guard: an exit and a return. There is no location tracking.

Who can see that my child left the building? Only the guardians you registered. It is not visible to other residents or to the committee generally.

Can I get alerts for a child who is not mine? No. Only registered guardians of that child receive them.
