Cashfree Easy Split for a Housing Society
Cashfree Easy Split for a housing society
Cashfree Easy Split lets Plinth create a separate vendor identity for each housing society and direct that society's online maintenance collection to its verified bank account. Plinth creates the bill and reconciles a signed payment confirmation, while Cashfree handles hosted checkout, bank verification, KYC, and movement of money.
Why is a society called a vendor?
“Vendor” is Cashfree's Easy Split term for a settlement destination. In Plinth it does not mean the plumber, security agency, or other supplier in the society vendor register. It means the society's own bank account—the destination for resident maintenance payments.
What happens before residents can pay?
An authorised admin submits the society's account-holder name, bank details, PAN, and optional GSTIN. Cashfree validates the bank beneficiary and reviews KYC. Plinth stores only a masked account reference and provider status. PAN and GST files are forwarded directly to Cashfree and are not retained.
Cashfree can report bank validation, beneficiary creation, KYC review, action required, active, on
hold, blocked, or deleted states. Plinth enables live checkout only for ACTIVE; every other state
fails closed.
How is the status kept current?
Cashfree sends a signed vendor-status webhook when the state changes. Plinth verifies the timestamped HMAC before updating anything, ignores stale or duplicate events, and records the transition in the append-only audit log. Admins can also choose Check status to fetch the provider's current state.
If an active account later becomes blocked or needs action, Plinth switches live checkout off. That prevents residents from creating orders against an account Cashfree will not settle.
How does a resident payment flow?
- The resident opens an issued maintenance bill.
- Plinth creates a server-side payment intent using the outstanding balance.
- Cashfree creates a hosted checkout order with the society vendor as the split destination.
- The resident pays through Cashfree.
- A signed Cashfree payment webhook settles the intent and updates the bill and ledger.
The browser cannot mark its own payment successful. Closing checkout only starts status polling; the server-side provider confirmation is the source of truth.
